I graduated with a BA Honours in Constructed Textiles from Middlesex University in 2000. After which I worked a variety of different jobs including some freelance mural painting, a few freelance design jobs, and a few years learning a lot whilst working as Office Administrator at a publishers. Yet, I still loved to create items, and work on my designs.
Whilst at university I mentioned to tutors that I was planning on building and setting up a website for artists and crafts people to sell on; and although the idea was put aside for some years … Here it is!
As well as designing and managing this website, and Beguiling Bees Totes & Tees, I also run Beguiling Bees Embroideries & Print, and Hand Weave Tapestries. I do occasionally except commissions, and orders for bespoke items - though delivery can be up to four weeks for embroidered and printed items, and longer for Hand Woven Tapestries; I do try to have orders delivered within two weeks whenever possible (if not sooner).
A passion for creating and a love of fabrics and threads alongside the therapeutic nature of the action of hand and machine sewing and weaving, and also curiosity into print techniques have all led to the contents of my shop. I work from a small area in the space under the stairs (though also on the kitchen table, in the garden, and in the lounge) within the home I share with my partner, our son and two dogs.
Please peruse my creations at your leisure, and feel free to contact me directly with any questions or queries, or bespoke order enquiries.
